Data Help Desk: ESA Data Sharing Policy: What It Means for YOU

ESA recently instituted a policy requiring data sharing for all associated journals so that the community can more easily validate research methods, create reproducible science, and further support scientific exploration and preservation. This new policy went into effect on February 1, 2021, and the open research policy applies to the entire family of journals. The policy in a nutshell: as a condition of publication in ESA journals, all underlying data and statistical code pertinent to the results must be available in a permanent, publicly accessible data archive or repository. What does this mean for you as an ESA researcher? Zsolt Silberer, Director of ESA Publishing, and the Data Help Desk (8 research data organizations and repositories) will host a session explaining the new policy, how to abide by it, and what are some of the research data repositories that would be a good place for your ecological data.
