1) Research Molecular Geneticist/Genomics

Full time, career position, USDA Forest Service Research, West Lafayette, Indiana.

The scientist uses genetics technologies and software tools or develops new technologies & tools, to solve longstanding problems related to adaptation and deployment of genetic resources, including species conservation and restoration.
The scientist will provide genetic solutions to programs designed to recover healthy populations of species affected by novel, unanticipated diseases, and pests.

2) Tree Improvement Specialist
The position participates in the development and implementation of study plans for the improvement, propagation, and deployment of hardwood species in both natural and intensively managed stands. Breeding goals include restoration of species lost to invasive pests and diseases, improved carbon sequestration, adaptation to climate change, and superior growth and commercial form. Successful applicants will have MS in plant sciences broadly considered, or BS with experience. Job will be formally listed on USAJOBS.GOV in June, must contact keith.woeste@nullusda.gov beforehand.
