Marianne Bello

Biography

Marianne has a Bachelors in Biological Sciences from the State University of Rio de Janeiro (UERJ), Masters in Ecology and Evolution (UERJ), and is a PhD candidate in Ecology and Evolution (PPGEE/UERJ). She works in the research line of Ecology and conservation of non-human primates, with experience and interest in the areas of Population Ecology, Socio-environmental Conflicts, and Mastozoology, with emphasis on Primates. She is the coordinator of the “Bugios da Ilha” (Island howler monkeys) project, coordinator of the “Movimento Mulheres pela Primatologia” (Women for Primatology), and co-founder of the Odu initiative – a way to increase black representation in science. Besides, Marianne is a social educator, teaching science through anti-racist practices.
