Luisa Maria Diele-Viegas is a visiting professor at the Federal University of Bahia and the vice president of the Brazilian Association of Ecological and Conservation Sciences (ABECO). She is a Ph.D. in Ecology and Evolution, M.Sc. in Zoology/Evolution, and a bachelor’s in Zoology. Her primary research interests include the impacts of human activities on biodiversity, with an emphasis on climate change and terrestrial ectotherms. She also evaluates the implicit and explicit gender biases in the academic environment, considering gender, race, ethnicity, class, sexuality, people with disabilities, and their intersections. She is a climate leader, founder of the My Scientist Friend project of scientific communication, co-founder of the Salvador Climate Forum, the Northeast network for the climate, the Kunhã Asé Network of Women in Science, and the Women in Zoology network in Brazil. She is also part of the Organization for Women in Science for the Developing World, the Diversity and Inclusion Committee of the Brazilian Society of Herpetology, and the CoVida Network: Science, Information, and Solidarity. Her pronouns are she/ her.
