New Pledge to meet SEEDS Endowment Goal and more!
ESA receives $100,000 pledge to match gifts to the Henry L. Gholz National SEEDS Field Trip Endowment
Long-time ESA member and donor, Phillip Taylor, has pledged ESA’s largest gift from an individual to lead us over the top of our target goal to fund the SEEDS national field trips into perpetuity. These field trips to ecologically significant sites are a cornerstone of ESA’s 25 –year old program and provide meaningful experiences in ecology to undergraduates that are underrepresented in our science. Phillip, a colleague of Henry Gholz at the National Science Foundation, was inspired by Henry’s commitment to the next generation of ecologists. Participate today to help us meet this incredible challenge match!
The SEEDS Endowment
Currently, our fundraising goal for the SEEDS program is to fully establish the Henry L. Gholz SEEDS Field Trip Endowment, created in honor of Dr. Henry Gholz. Our target is to raise $400,000 by 2024. Thanks to the $25K challenge gift from Ms. Vicki Moore to celebrate the SEEDS 25th anniversary in 2021, we have received more than $230,577 as of March 2022.
The $100,000 pledge from Dr. Phil Taylor, will ensure that we meet our goal. As of July 2022, we have exceeded 40% of the challenge match.
Your contributions allow SEEDS to decrease our dependence on external funding. When you make a contribution to the Henry L. Gholz SEEDS Field Trip endowment, you help secure an independent fund that enables underrepresented and minority students to discover new and big ideas in research, a passion for science, and the wide range of possible careers in ecological fields.
All contributions are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law.

ESA SEEDS is grateful for all the donations and pledges that have already been received to establish the Henry L. Gholz Fund.
