Recent breakthroughs have made artificial intelligence techniques accessible to a wider audience interested in addressing the management and analysis of large ecological datasets. From automatically sorting camera trap data to identifying individuals within your study population, leave this course with the knowledge and skills to generate and deploy machine learning models for your research. In this course, you will first learn how to wrangle your data using R or OpenRefine; create workflows using python environments and Jupyter notebooks; and deploy your own computer vision web application using powerful deep learning libraries.

Students will take the course at their own pace over a four-week period with instructor support. The course will then be open for an additional 2-month period. The course is divided into discrete competency-based modules composed of pre-recorded lecture material and hands-on exercises. Student interaction and instructor support will be provided in the form of email, online discussion forums, and live Q&A sessions each week. Each student will also have the opportunity to meet with the instructor via one-on-one video consultation to discuss their individual project from school or work.

    Course fee: $650 professional / $550 student
