Help Tell the ESA Story

Under the guidance of the ESA Historical Records Committee, at this year’s Annual Meeting, we’re inviting attendees to share their stories — they could be tales from the field, how and why they got into ecology, aspirations, project descriptions, almost anything that tells the story of ecologists by ecologists!

We seek a few volunteers to help with recording these short interviews. This isn’t part of the regular student volunteering opportunities — we’re specifically looking for folks interested in documenting scientists’ work, careers and Society experience in their own words, with an interest in science communication a big plus!

What Will You Do?

While we’re very open to suggestions, our immediate aim is to give you a video camera, lav mic, tripod and some question prompts and let you interview some folks! That could mean setting up a static spot near the ESA booth or going so far as to roam the exhibit hall, talking with poster presenters, exhibitors and regular attendees. The only real limits are our imaginations and our lack of particularly sophisticated editing software back at the office!
