{"id":1983,"date":"2022-05-06T16:02:40","date_gmt":"2022-05-06T20:02:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.esa.org\/montreal2022\/?page_id=1983"},"modified":"2022-07-14T09:55:02","modified_gmt":"2022-07-14T13:55:02","slug":"buell-and-braun-judges","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.esa.org\/montreal2022\/buell-and-braun-judges\/","title":{"rendered":"Student Award Judges"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Sign up to be a judge for student presentations (Buell\/Braun)!<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>We are seeking judges to help us evaluate student presentations for this year\u2019s Buell (Contributed Talk) and Braun (Contributed Poster) Awards.&nbsp; These awards recognize the most outstanding student presentations at each year\u2019s meeting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center has-subtle-background-color has-secondary-background-color has-text-color has-background has-large-font-size\"> Please sign up no later than July 28.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What do judges do?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Judges are expected to view and ask questions about the presentations they sign up for, as well as complete a short online form afterward to assign scores and provide a few constructive comments. We ask that each judge sign up for at least 5 presentations to judge over the course of the meeting.&nbsp;<strong>Instructions will be emailed to all judges the week of July 18<\/strong>including a description of the criteria and links to the online judging forms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Papers and posters are judged in five equally weighted categories:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>significance of ideas<\/li><li>creativity<\/li><li>quality of methodology<\/li><li>validity of conclusions drawn from results<\/li><li>clarity of presentation<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Some tips to help things go more smoothly<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Students are not eligible to serve as judges.<\/li><li>You should not sign up to judge people who would present a conflict of interest for you (e.g., an advisee, member of your research group, close collaborator, personal friends, someone whose thesis committee you serve on, etc.)<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How do I sign up?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>To sign up, email&nbsp;<a href=\"mailto:awards@esa.org\">awards@esa.org<\/a>, and a link to the judging schedule will be sent to you starting in June.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center has-subtle-background-color has-secondary-background-color has-text-color has-background has-large-font-size\"> Please sign up no later than July 28.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Sign up to be a judge for student presentations (Buell\/Braun)!
