Theme: “Biodiversity in the Mid-Atlantic: Present and Future”

Please join us for an exciting conference, hosted by Stockton University in the New Jersey Pine Barrens and Coastal Zone. The conference theme includes biodiversity throughout the Mid-Atlantic Region.

The sessions will run from 9 am to 5:30 pm, with the talks and poster sessions from 1:30 to 5:30 and the awards ceremony and banquet from 6 pm to 8:30 pm.

The plenary programs will focus on the North American Coastal Plain, recently designated as the world’s 36th biodiversity hotspot. Our speakers and panel will discuss the current threats and future prospects for biodiversity, especially in the Mid-Atlantic portion of the hotspot, including the critical interactions between terrestrial and estuarine/marine environments. The conference will include a full program of submitted oral and poster sessions of interest to ecologists from the entire region.

Sunday from 9:30 am to 1:30 pm, there will be a field trip on the Stockton campus, covering Pine Barrens habitats and Stockton’s forest restoration and management sites.

Hotels and Motels

There are many hotels and motels, in all price ranges, located within 5-12 miles of Stockton University, This includes Stockton’s Seaview Hotel and Resort, which may offer a special rate of $149 per night. Contact Beth Williams, Group Housing Coordinator,Stockton Seaview Hotel & Golf Club, (609)748-7608, if you are interested. Other hotels and motels can be found through any online booking service by searching in Absecon, NJ or Galloway NJ. For the adventurous, there is also Atlantic City (about 12 miles) Spring weekends may book up early, so try to reserve as soon as possible.
