Travel awards

Description

This award is to support students to attend the ESA annual meeting. Funding is to assist with costs associated with registration, travel, and lodging.

Priority will be given to students working in Latin America and the Caribbean that will be presenting a poster or giving a talk, followed by researchers that are from and/or work in Latin America.

Eligibility

In order to apply, students have to be ESA members and be affiliated with the Chapter. If an applicant passes these criteria, 2 awards will be distributed by lottery in the amount of US$ 750.00 each by reimbursement.

How it will work

Award will be delivered in cash to the people at the Chapter business meeting later in the week during the conference.

Best Poster & talk awards

The chapter will be offering poster and talk awards ($100 each!). To participate, please send us your name and the title of your presentation to latinamerican.chapter.esa@nullgmail.com with “LAC awards” as the subject.

Eligibility In order to apply, students have to be ESA members and be affiliated with the Chapter.

How it will work   Winning applicants will receive the award in cash at the Chapter Mixer. Look for the time and place of this event in the meeting program.

Deadline The deadline to apply is the day before the meeting starts on August 6th.

2023 Best Poster & Talk Awardees

  • Best Poster Award: PS 26-94 – Yes, we can: Indigenous women as protagonists against local climate changes in Brazilian Amazonia by Gabriel C Borba and co-authors
  • Best Talk Award: COS 289-4 – Host-switching events affect the evolution of the network of interactions by Elvira D’Bastiani and co-authors. 

Registration Awards

This year, we will be distributing 4 registration awards for researchers from Latin America. Students, especially those who will be presenting at the meeting, will be prioritized. Awardees will receive a unique coupon code that they can use to cover their registration costs, so please wait until we release the results before you register for the meeting.

Description

            This award is to cover the student registration fee for attending the ESA annual meeting. The fee for students registering at the early bird rate will be US$ 230.00.

In order to apply, students have to be ESA members and be affiliated with the Chapter. Priority will be given to students working in Latin America and the Caribbean that will be presenting a poster or giving a talk. If an applicant passes these criteria, awards will be distributed by lottery.

 

How it will work

Winning applicants will be provided with a discount code to use when making the registration in the conference website. The deadline for Early Bird registration will be 22nd June.
