Call for ESA Water Cooler Chat Hosts
What is a Water Cooler Chat?
The ESA Water Cooler Chat (WCC) is a great way for, educators, researchers, and students, working remotely to share their ideas and resources in an informal session.
We welcome your ideas to host a Water Cooler chat. This is a virtual meeting space for participants to connect with each other and talk about their work and experiences during this disruptive time.
Role of the WCC host
Hosts facilitate the conversation in WCCs.
No formal presentations or slides, please!
The host poses questions, guides conversations, and moderates questions and comments by participants. Typically, we have at least two-three hosts per WCC. Think of the WCCs as a radio talk show where hosts initiate conversation and take “calls” or in this case, “Zoom raised hands” and Zoom text (chats). It helps for hosts to have a set of resources handy to share on as you anticipate where the conversation will go. Many participants will have their own resources to share as well. These resources are compiled and posted on the ESA Water Cooler Chat page.
