We ecologists all need to negotiate for our jobs, our benefits, collaborations, contracts, and sometimes just in human interactions. Come to learn some tips and tricks to be a better negotiator, hear some panelists discuss their negotiating experiences, and ask questions and discuss successful negotiation. Do you have negotiations coming up in your future? Do you have positive or negative negotiating experiences to share? What do you want to learn about negotiating? This watercooler is intended for everyone: early career ecologists, their mentors, and experienced professionals who have tips to pass on or who are looking for tips to improve. Grab your favorite beverage and join the ESA Education Committee in the conversation about negotiating!

Under global change, scientists and conservation practitioners are challenged to develop effective management strategies that can help recover ecosystem processes and functions. The field of restoration ecology is rapidly advancing to meet this challenge through the application of innovative technology and methodology, such as trait-based approaches. When used in restoration, trait-based approaches can help track the mechanisms underlying community assembly and ecosystem function to inform species and site selection. This webinar will introduce trait-based restoration, followed by a woven panel discussion between leaders studying different focal ecosystems within the field. After engaging with the panel, participants will enter breakout discussions on how we can better bridge science and management to overcome current challenges in applying trait-based approaches to restoration.
