Clarkson Biology Professor Elected to Executive Committee at the Ecological Society of America

Clarkson Biology Assistant Professor Andrew David was recently elected to a 2-year term as Secretary of the Invasion Ecology section of the Ecological Society of America. Founded in 1915, the ESA is one of the largest scientific societies in the country with more than 9,000 members in over 90 countries, many of them researchers, educators, natural resource managers and students. Membership in the society consists of persons and institutions interested in ecology and in the promotion of ecological research.
The Invasion Ecology section is one of 34 sections within the society and one of the most recently – established in 2015. It is charged with promoting research, teaching, communication, and collaboration on the ecology of biological invasions through the organization of symposia at annual meetings, providing funding opportunities for students interested in pursuing invasion science along with networking opportunities among scientists at all levels.
Dr. David is a leading expert on aquatic invasive species with a focus on assessing connectivity patterns among recently introduced species and using this data to develop eradication and management plans. He has been serving as the Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the journal BioInvasions Records since January 2020 and also sits on the Editorial Advisory Board of the journal, Aquatic Invasions.
