UC Santa Cruz faculty recognized for excellence in ecology

UC Santa Cruz Professor Ingrid Parker earned a 2021 ESA fellow award for her work partnering with resource managers to conserve biological diversity through invasive species removal and ecosystem restoration. 
Professor Karen Holl’s award recognizes her accomplishments in “bringing science into decision making,” through her efforts to improve the effectiveness of tree-growing campaigns.
Professor Stacy Philpott, director of the Center for Agroecology and Sustainable Food Systems, is being recognized for her dedication to teaching and mentorship for women and students of color.
Assistant Professor Kai Zhu was honored as an Early Career Fellow for his research blending classical ecological theories with modern computational tools to study issues like climate change.
