Travel Awards – This year the Urban Ecosystem Ecology Section sponsored three, student–travel awards of $300/each.  Each applicant was asked to submit his/her abstract, a letter of need, and a letter of reference.  We received a number of great applications which made the decision process very difficult.  This year’s recipients and their presentations are:

Sonja Djuricin, University of California, Irvine
PS 52–175: A comparison of atmospheric methods for determining the sources of atmospheric CO2 in urban ecosystems

Charles Hofer, Rutgers University New Brunswick
PS 52–174: If you build it, will they stay? Using passerine nestlings as bioindicators of heavy metal accumulation at a former brownfield site

Yvette Williams, University of Maryland Baltimore County
PS 52–171: Investigating vegetation dynamics of vacant lots and community gardens in an urban watershed
Please congratulate these students when you visit their posters!
