Student Orientation. 11:30 AM - 1:15 PM. Convention Center 7. Lunch provided! (Space may be limited)

Student Mixer. 6:30 - 8:00 PM. Convention Center Ballroom C. Food and drinks (*ticketed*)

Student Night Out. 8:00 PM till late. Head out post-mixer with fellow students to local bars.

2011 ESA-Plant Population Ecology Student Travel Awards

The ESA-PPE provides funds each year for students to travel to the national meeting. The student must:

  1. be the presenter/first author of a talk or poster at the meeting and
  2. be a member of the section (if you are not sure whether you are up to date with the section dues, please contact membership(at)esa.org).

2011 Billings and New Phytologist Poster Awards

Two separate awards, the Billings Award and the New Phytologist Poster Award recognize significant advancements in physiological ecology. Entrants are judged on the rigor, creativity, importance, and quality of presentation of the research. Applications are due June 1, 2011.

To Fellow Science Students,

Recently, several student members of the Botanical Society of America developed an open letter to lawmakers to express our hope that policymakers in Washington, DC, will sustain a national commitment to invest in our nation's scientific research, development, and education systems.

Federal funding for science and science education programs is important to us all. Thus, we invite you to join us in a nationwide effort to communicate to lawmakers in Washington, DC, the importance of continued federal investments in science.
