ABOUT ME & SCIENTIFIC INTERESTS:
I am a Ph.D. Candidate in the Valone Lab in the Department of Biology at Saint Louis University. I am interested in conservation and ecological restoration, and the management and protection of threatened habitats. I am also committed to mentoring young women aspiring to careers in science, particularly field biology.
My dissertation research is focussed on desertification, the degradation of arid rangelands. I am investigating a new model for the reversal of desertification and regeneration of perennial grasses in desertified sites. I have conducted fieldwork in southeastern Arizona, western Texas and Inner Mongolia. Prior to graduate school I worked in a stewardship capacity for several land conservation organizations in New York and Maine.
