Looking forward
to ESA 2007 in San Jose…
- We are always looking for volunteers to help organize workshops,
evening sessions or other meeting activities. Most of the time,
organizing a session will demand very little time. Plus, by getting
involved in section activities you will get to know other student
members and other researchers in ecology.
- Don’t forget to get your
proposals for organized oral sessions in by September 15 (www.esa.org/sanjose).
- We need feedback on whether area
students would be willing to offer housing to other students attending
the meeting from farther away and whether students traveling to
ESA are interested in this housing option. Please send messages
to Abby Kula (akula@umd.edu).
- Contact Liz Harp (eharp@lamar.colostate.edu) by Sept. 30 with
your suggestions on a plan to help offset carbon costs of the
annual meeting (e.g. traveling). Please place “Carbon Offsets”
in the subject line.
- A new workshop on communicating
science to the public is being organized by Liz Harp.
° The How to Succeed in Ecology
session is being organized again. If you would like to help with
this session, please contact Abe Miller-Rushing (ajmr@bu.edu).
- Submit ideas for topics or researchers
for the "recent advances" session to Abby Kula (akula@umd.edu).
The ideas will be compiled and sent to students to decide which
idea to support.
No idea what we are talking about? Request a copy
of the Student Section Report to Abby Kula (akula@umd.edu).
