Welcome to SNAP!

The SEEDS Network for Alumni and Professionals

In 2007 during ESA's Annual Meeting in San Jose, California, several SEEDS alumni recognized a sense of urgency to stay connected to the program to give back and further support their mission. Over the years, having a program such as SEEDS has created a culture of belonging and an authentic feeling of success for students like no other organization around. Finding others with a common drive and passion for ecological research is one thing, but to also find a commonality in a cultural context is what allows students to really flourish and express their resilient nature. The alumni recognized that the SEEDS Program helped create this energy as they succeeded in their journey through their undergraduate experience. Now it was time to translate that same energy into the pathway that now left many of the alums in higher levels of education with a different journey; graduate school and/or the professional world. But with little or no resources coming from an undergraduate-focused program like SEEDS, the alumni were limited in their ability to have a different level of career and cultural support. This is where SNAP was born.

As the SEEDS Network for Alumni and Professionals, we are in partnership with the SEEDS Program providing a network of all non-undergraduate level ecologist from, and in support of, a more diverse ecology. Through this network opportunities for educational, professional, and personal growth are organized in the form of workshops, forums, and seminars/webinars. Our contributions back to the SEEDS program are integral to our existence and to the advancement of ecology as a discipline of science.
