"Bruins SEEDS Chapter" » Los Angeles, CA

The purpose of our chapter is to promote higher education, increase interest in ecology, ecological research and conservation. We want to create opportunities for underrepresented minorities to get exposed to ecology through research presentations, workshops, and field trips to the Santa Monica Mountains, the rocky intertidal and UC reserves. We want to take part in outreach by going to inner city K-12 schools in order to expose students to ecology and also to teach them about our local environment through field trips. This is a key goal for us since these students in the inner city school may not have the opportunity to experience our local areas otherwise. This will also give our members the opportunity to become mentors and teachers. Our field trips will have a focus increasing our appreciation for natural habitats and conservation..
We are thrilled to announce the Bruins SEEDS Chapter at the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) as one of our newest additions to SEEDS!
