The Oakwood University Ecology club strives to gain an understanding of the environment and our place in it while becoming more actively, physically and spiritually involved with nature. Our goal is to promote ecological awareness on the campus of Oakwood University and to its surrounding communities. We seek the improvement of the natural environment and provide a service to our community by teaching others what we have learnt. |
Plans for 2009-2010
- To participate in College days activities.
- To Adopt-A-Mile.
- To plan semi-annual clean up events for the Nature Trail and the Pond.
- To recycle ink cartridges.
- To recycle the Spreading Oaks Newspaper.
- To plan a trip to the Tennessee Aquarium.
- To plan a trip to the Cathedral Cavern caves.
- To plan campus-wide Earth Day events.
- To have public service announcements aired on campus.
- To assist at the Huntsville Botanical Gardens.
- To start an Ecology Club at the Oakwood Academy
Activities of 2008-2009
- New chapter as of October 2009
- Participated in College Days with a booth encouraging future students with environmental activities.
- Planned an Ecology Club camping trip to Shelbyville, TN.
- Planned campus-wide events for Earth Day.
- Planned and executed Clean Up events at the Pond and Nature Trail.
- Planned a field trip to Harmony Safari Park in Huntsville, AL.
