Please welcome one of the newest members of the SEEDS Family: Widener University! SEEDS – Widener University is devoted to the promotion of the science of ecology among our student body and the surrounding community. We commit ourselves to engaging in ecological investigations and activities to generate appreciation for the complex and beautiful ecosystems we are a part of. We exist also to help educate our community in the importance of environmental preservation through presenting sustainable alternatives to environmentally harmful practices. Widener University has a student population with a strong interest in ecology that could benefit from an organized, well-supported outlet such as a SEEDS chapter. Our student body is highly diverse and represents a wide variety of cultures and backgrounds, thereby promoting the diversity goal of SEEDS. Our university is situated in Chester, Pennsylvania, which is a minority-dominated, economically-disadvantaged urban area whose residents could benefit from ecology education and the opportunity for community involvement that a SEEDS chapter could help provide. |
