Ecological Society of America

Alumni Travel Awards are for former SEEDS students who are continuing in an ecology career. The SEEDS program awards a select group of program alumni travel awards to attend the ESA Annual Meeting and serve as near peers in the support network for SEEDS undergraduate students. Requirements include having participated in a SEEDS event in the past (field trip, ESA Annual Meeting, or fellowship) and being currently enrolled in a graduate program in an institution within the United Sates. Preference will be given to students who demonstrate the pursuit of ecology (i.e. attending graduate school); who plan to present research at the meeting; who exhibit promise in contributing to the ecology program at their home institution or in their community; and, who show promise as an educator or mentor. Participants are selected based academic promise, demonstrated pursuit of a career in ecology, potential for serving as a mentor and teacher, and demonstrated commitment to increasing opportunities for underrepresented students.

Students that submit abstracts to present have a better chance of being selected for the award.

SEEDS Alumni applications are available here. DEADLINE IS MARCH 7, 2012.
