- American Indian Higher Education Consortium (AIHEC) Annual Conference
AIHEC is made up of 34 American Indian tribal colleges throughout the U.S. The presidents, students and faculty of the post-secondary institutions gather once a year to acknowledge and strengthen their unique association. This gathering is a conference where college students develop academic and leadership skills through scholastic competition and faculty/administrator acquire professional development with workshops. Other events that take place during the conference include high school and college student tours, career fair and social events so that students can network.
- American Indian Science and Engineering Society (AISES) Annual National Conference
AISES is a national, non-profit organization that nurtures building of community by bridging science and technology with traditional Native values. Through its educational programs, AISES provides opportunities for American Indians and Alaska Natives to pursue studies in science, engineering, and technology arenas. These trained professionals then become technologically informed leaders within the Indian community. AISES' ultimate goal is to be a catalyst for the advancement of American Indians and Native Alaskans as they seek to become self-reliant and self-determined members of society. The 27 th Annual Conference will be held November 3-5,2005 in Charlotte , North Carolina . The theme for the conference is “Pathways to Stronger Communities.”
- Mexican American Engineers and Scientists (MAES) Annual National Leadership Conference
Please take advantage of each one of these opportunities. Whether you are involved as a student, professional, or recruiter, this Symposium will have something for you. (MAES) was founded in 1974 for the purpose of increasing the number of Mexican Americans and other Hispanics in the technical and scientific fields. Originally, the focus was on the professions, but as the organization grew, so did the scope of its activities and interests. The Society now represents the Mexican American community in the all-important technological arena on issues related to edu cation, economics, environment and research. As a mature organization with a national membership representing all the engineering and scientific disciplines, the society now has turned its focus on the youth of our people.
- Minorities in Agriculture Natural Resources and Related Sciences (MANRRS) Annual Conference
MANRRS provides ongoing networking and professional development activities for its members. The best opportunity for networking, however, occurs at the ANNUAL CAREER FAIR AND TRAINING CONFERENCE which will be held March 30-April 1 in St. Louis , Missouri . Each spring, the MANRRS conference brings hundreds of people together to discuss issues of interest and concern regarding diversity in agriculture and related areas. In addition to workshop sessions and keynote addresses by prominent individuals, the conference conducts a career fair where employers from agricultural and natural resources industries and the government meet with students and young professionals to discuss internship and full-time employment opportunities. MANRRS also sponsors REGIONAL WORKSHOPS located in one of the six MANRRS regions. These regional workshops, generally held in the fall or winter, focus on professional and leadership development for students.
- Minority Environmental Leadership Development Initiative (MELDI) National Summit
MELDI plans to hold a National Summit on Diversity in the Environmental Field from August 28-30, 2005 in Ann Arbor , Michigan . The plan is to bring together students, leaders of environmental nonprofits, faculty in environmental programs, leaders of government environmental agencies, and representatives from other environmental institutions to discuss the state of diversity in the environmental field and strategize about how to enhance it in the future. This conference will be driven by concrete data collected from pipeline studies exploring the demographic characteristics of academic environmental programs, the characteristics of the environmental organizations, and the nature of the work experience in these organizations. The conference will also focus on examining successful techniques of introducing and implementing diversity practices in the workplace. The goal of the conference is to help move the conversation about diversity in the environmental field into the 21st century. The theme of the conference is “Thirty-five Years After Earth Day…. Where Do We Go From Here?”
- National Association for Multicultural Education (NAME) Annual Conference
NAME's 15th Annual International Conference will take place November 9-13, 2005 . The theme of the conference is “Renewing the Dream Through Multicultural Education: Sharing Power, Valuing Culture, and Achieving Social Justice.” NAME's membership encompasses the spectrum of professional edu cators and specialists, including early childhood, classroom and higher edu cation faculty, administrators, psychologists, social workers, counselors, curriculum specialists, librarians, scholars, and researchers. Persons affiliated with teacher edu cation, ethnic studies, ESL and bilingual edu cation, social science, anthropology, liberal and fine arts programs, and other departments, colleges, and schools with an emphasis on multiculturalism are also encouraged to become members.
- National Consortium for Graduate Degrees for Minorities in Engineering and Science ( GEM ) Annual Conference
For 27 years, our companies and universities have worked together providing graduate edu cation in engineering and science to over 2,400 underrepresented minority students. GEM is a unique network of universities, companies, government agencies, alumni and faculty. Through this collaboration, the success of students attaining graduate degrees is maximized.
- National Organization for the Professional Advancement of Black Chemists and Chemical Engineers (NOBCChE) Career Fair
NOBCChE is a non-profit association which is the premier technical organization for technical students and professionals providing access to top engineering talent. The annual National Convention for NOBCChE features the largest career fair for underrepresented students and professionals in a variety of disciplines, including engineering, physical sciences, and information technology.

NOBCChE is committed to the discovery, transmittal, and application of knowledge in the fields of science and engineering. The mission of NOBCChE therefore is to build an eminent community of scientists and engineers by increasing the number of minorities in these fields. NOBCChE will achieve its mission through diverse programs designed to foster professional development and encourage students to pursue careers in science and technical fields. To this end, NOBCChE will establish edu cational partnerships with school districts, municipalities, businesses, industries, other institutions and organizations in the public and private sectors.
- NC State's College of Natural Resources Community for Diversity's Annual Diversity Summit
NC State's College of Natural Resources Community for Diversity proudly presents the first annual diversity summit, “Enriching the Professional Harvest” which will be held September 22-23, 2005 . The day and a half event will include a reception and dinner with keynote speaker, and a full day of workshop sessions designed to address the most pressing issues of diversity facing natural resources and environment. Attendance by more than 200 legislators, community leaders, corporate executives, industry partners, individual supporters, distinguished alumni, and university officers is expected. This summit will explore the challenges and opportunities of successfully aligning student interests and academic programs with the needs of industry and communities to better serve a diverse world. These workshops will address the issues of diversity head on .
- Society for Advancement of Chicanos and Native Americans in Science (SACNAS) National Conference
SACNAS provides unparalleled conference activities for students, edu cators, administrators and researchers in science. This year's conference theme, “Science for America 's Future,” explores the contemporary status and role of Chicano/Latinos and Native Americans in science, technology, engineering and mathematics and advances new agendas for greater diversity in America 's scientific fields. SACNAS continues its tradition of working to increase Native American and Chicano/Latino presence in the scientific community. The conference will be held September 29- October 2, 2005 . The SACNAS Conference offers a national forum for investigation of questions related to the theme and the development of a new generation of leaders who will be instrumental in shaping future directions and applications of scientific research.
