Description:
EcoBeaker
is the world’s leading software for teaching ecology and related topics, used
in hundreds of colleges every year. The program teaches by simulating
communities of species and having students do conceptually realistic experiments
that cover a wide range of topics in population, community, and ecosystem
ecology, sampling design, conservation, and resource management. We are
beginning work on a major upgrade and want to solicit feedback from professors
who are either using or considering EcoBeaker. After showing the current
EcoBeaker and our newly developed EvoBeaker (for teaching evolution), we will
present our own ideas for the next EcoBeaker. We will then guide a brainstorming
session and discussion on what features you would like to see in the new
EcoBeaker, and how you would rank them in importance. If you use EcoBeaker or
are considering using EcoBeaker in your classes, please come tell us how we can
make it better for your students. Bring your laptop. Lunch is provided.
