Ever wanted to run away and join the circus? This event may provide your best chance, if only for one evening. One of Montréal’s claims to international fame is as the home of “Cirque du Soleil”–the unique circus that amazes and dazzles audiences all over the world. Round-trip transportation will be provided between the Palais de congres de Montreal and TOHU, “la Cité des arts du cirque”, the home of the Circus School that trains performers for “Cirque du Soleil” companies. The facility represents a partnership between En Piste, a national organization of circus arts professionals, the National Circus School , and Cirque du Soleil.

TOHU is also a unique example of sustainable development in the heart of Montreal ’s St. Michel neighborhood. The name “TOHU” comes from the francophone term “tohu-bohu,” a cross between harum-scarum and fertile confusion, like the state of the Earth at the moment of its creation. TOHU was constructed on the former second largest urban landfill site in North America . Guests will be able to tour the TOHU building, the only one open to the public in the Circus complex. This facility serves as a model of green architecture and construction demonstrating eco-heating, passive geothermics, natural and hybrid ventilation, a naturalized pond, and construction from recycled steel.

Eight Circus School students will entertain informally during the Social. And to tantalize your taste buds, Giselle Gauthier Traiteur, one of Montreal’s most imaginative caterers, has created a special circus menu for this event that includes the following festive treats: cones of crudités with dip and vegetable chips; a sushi bar with sashimi, maki, nigiri, and assorted spring rolls; teriyaki salmon in filo; cones of fish strips with assorted sauces; assorted delicate wraps (vegetable, tofu, shrimp, and chicken); smoked meat served on a “tricycle”; assorted skewers including skewered miniature merguez; chicken wing baskets; “trainers” surprise box; plus classic circus fare such as popcorn, cotton candy, and an ice cream and shaved ice bar with mini cones in a range of flavors. The atmosphere will be fun and friendly with food and beverages stations and casual seating located both in the circus reception hall and outside on the TOHU grounds.

Due to limited capacity at TOHU, only 700 tickets may be sold for this event.
