Description:
Urbanization is one of the most important and
urgent environmental issues in the developed and developing countries. The
issues are caused by many multi-functional factors from socio-economic unbalance
and unsustainable management of a limited natural resource. Ubiquitous solutions
against urbanization problems are emerging as major global issue in ecological
science. Development of social capacity in eco-environmental system and its
evaluation is significant indicator of sustainable society. Social capacity for
eco-environmental management, as an important concept in urban ecology in the
world sense, is defined as the capacity to manage environment problems and as
the ability to administer the social environmental management system, which
consists of the governments, private firms and citizens and the interactions
between or among these actors, and also of the relations between national and
local levels of the society.
