Friday,
August 12, 9 AM - 11 AM, Exhibit Halls 220b-c, Level 2, Palais des congrès de
Montréal
Organizers:
Val Smith (vsmith@ku.edu), Catherine
Potvin
Description:
This special poster session will highlight undergraduate research in ecology
and evolutionary biology from laboratories all across the
United States
and
Canada
. Posters will be presented by 20 competitively selected participants in the
National Science Foundation (NSF) Research Experiences for Undergraduates
Program, and 20 will come from students who will be competitively selected from
Canada’s 16-week undergraduate NSERC Summer Stage programme. An additional
group of 10 to 12 participants will come from the ESA SEEDS and UMAB programs.
This Special Session will provide an important opportunity for these highly
motivated undergraduates to present and to discuss their research with
scientists and ecological professionals, and will help them to make connections
with potential graduate mentors and graduate school recruiters. The Special
Session will begin with a welcome from the session organizers, and will also
include a brief talk from a distinguished member of ESA who will also discuss
the evolution of his/her ecological career.
