The 2005
ESA
- INTECOL Joint Meeting
marks only the second
time these two major organizations have met together. The meeting theme,
“Ecology at Multiple Scales”, focuses on mini-, micro-, macro-, and
multi-level natural phenomenon and relationships and has attracted submissions
from leading ecological scientists, researchers, educators, administrator ors,
and policy-makers from around the globe. The scientific program includes 4
plenary sessions, 24 scientific symposia, 36 workshops, 22 evening
sessions, 16 scientific field trips and tours, 15 special sessions, 53 organized
oral sessions, and more than 200 contributed paper and poster presentation
sessions. In addition, numerous business
meetings and mixers, unique ticketed social events, and diverse displays and
exhibits are scheduled.
With the
exception of the trips and tours,
virtually all of these activities will take place at the Palais des congrès de
Montréal, a modern convention center located in the city’s downtown adjacent
to
Chinatown
and Old Montréal. (Main entrances are at 201, Avenue Viger
Ouest and 1001, Place Jean-Paul-Riopelle). The facility
is within walking distance of official meeting lodging–hotels and residence
halls–and amenities such as a visitor information desk, foreign exchange
office, automatic tellers, varied dining options, and access to public transportation are available onsite. Please refer to specific sections of
the Preliminary Program for additional information.
