McGill
University’s Macdonald Campus is home to the Faculty of Agriculture and
Environmental Sciences. This trip includes guided tours of research facilities
of the University–the Lyman Entomological Museum, Morgan Arboretum, and St.
Lawrence Valley Natural History Ecomuseum in Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue, Québec.
The Lyman Entomological Museum
collection houses 2.8 million specimens of insects and other arthropods. The
Morgan Arboretum is a 245-hectare forested reserve, which is home to such trees
as birch, linden, spruce, pine, fir, balsam, flowering shrubs, and one of the
oldest living maple stands on Montréal Island. It is also home to 30 species of
mammals, 20 species of reptiles and amphibians, and 200 or more species of
migratory and over-wintering birds. The St.
Lawrence Valley Natural History Ecomuseum is 11.3-hectare educational wildlife
park. Tours include viewing of many species of small fish, amphibians, turtles,
and an indoor songbird aviary.

Equipment
and Attire: As this
trip will include light walking, participants are advised to wear comfortable
clothing and walking shoes. Binoculars and a camera are always useful items to
pack.
