Description:
The Biodôme (formely
the velodrome used during the 1976 Montréal Olympics) is located a few
kilometer east of downtown Montréal. It recreates in the interior four of the
most interesting and beautiful ecosystems of the Americas: (1) the lush and
humid tropical forest, (2) the ever-changing Laurentian forest, (3) the unique
St. Lawrence Marine ecosystem, and (4) the cold and dark polar worlds of both
the Artic and Antarctic. Two hours will hardly be long enough to visit and
discover these four different worlds.
The
Montreal Jardin Botanique
(Botanical Garden) is one of the largest gardens of its kind in the world. With
its 22,000 plant species, 10 exhibition greenhouses, and 30 thematic gardens,
the garden offers something for all. Of special interest are the delightful
Chinese garden and the peaceful Japanese garden, as well as the classically
designed French garden. To see everything would take a few days, but
participants can get a good overview during this 2-hour visit.
Equipment
and Attire: Participants are
advised to wear comfortable walking shoes, a sun hat, and
sunglasses and may want to bring a camera.
