AIRPORT TRANSPORTATION

The Montréal’s Trudeau Airport has a brand new International terminal with expanded facilities for customs, immigration, and baggage inspection. Nevertheless, some travelers may encounters lines and/or have to walk rather long distances through the facility. Please be aware of new border crossing regulations between the US and Canada and come prepared with the correct paperwork.

Upon leaving the airport, there are two main ways to get into downtown Montréal. Taxi service is available to take visitors directly from the International Terminal to downtown lodging or to the Palais des congrès de Montréal (Convention Center). One-way taxi service typically costs between $28 and $35 Canadian plus tip. Taxis can be shared, but expect additional per person surcharges. During morning and evening rush hours, traffic from the airport to downtown can be very heavy and the trip can take a half an hour or longer.

Shuttle service is also available from the International Terminal to specific locations in the downtown area on L’Aérobus. L’Aérobus stops at Montreal ’s Central Bus Station at 505 De Maisonneuve Boulevard located at the corner of Maisonneuve and Berri Streets – an easy walk from the Hotel Lord Berri and Les Residences Universitaires de UQAM. This shuttle also stops at the Delta Centre-Ville, which is only one block from the Hilton Montréal Bonaventure. (Please note that the shuttle also stops at other Delta Hotels. The Delta Centre-Ville is a Headquarters Hotel for the 2005 ESA -INTECOL Joint Meeting, but the Delta Montréal is not an official lodging location.) Before boarding, it may be best to ask the driver which shuttle stop is closest to your destination.

Tickets for L’Aérobus can be purchased at their kiosk in the airport. As of June 2005, the L’Aérobus shuttle fares, in Canadian dollars with taxes included, were:

ADULT:
One Way
    $13.00
Round Trip  $22.75

SENIOR (65 and over):
One Way    $11.50
Round Trip   $20.25

CHILD (5-12 yrs) Under 4 yrs rides free :

L’Aérobus shuttles between the airport and downtown run on a regular schedule every 20 minutes. L’Aérobus also provides a complimentary shuttle service available between the Montréal Central Bus Terminal and major downtown hotels.
