Seeking Deevey Award applicants and judges

Dear Paleoecology Section,

As you know, the Edward S. Deevey Award is given each year to recognize the best paleocological presentation or poster given by a graduate student at the ESA annual meeting. To continue that fine tradition this year in Sacramento, we are currently recruiting both grad-student applicants and post-grad judges. Please join the cause!

Judges: Please email me at deeveyaward@nullgmail.com if you are willing to contribute to the Paleoecology Section by volunteering to judge Deevey Award candidates. If applicable, indicate any dates or times during the conference that you will be unavailable to judge. I will coordinate a judging schedule prior to the start of the meeting.

Students: To nominate yourself for consideration, please complete the ESA student award application and send it to deeveyaward@nullgmail.com. Links to the application and additional information about the award and eligibility are on the Paleoecology Section website. Deadline for consideration is Friday, August 1, 2014.

Advisors: Please encourage your students to apply for the award. If they are hesitant, you might try reminding them that there is a $300 cash prize to the winner.

Thanks everyone for your time and interest, and please let me know if you have any questions.

Cheers,
Ryan Kelly
