The Mid Atlantic Chapter of the Ecological Society of America welcomes interested graduate and undergraduate students, academic, government, and industry ecologists and those in related fields to its Fifth Annual Mid-Atlantic Region Scientific Meeting. Please join us on Saturday, 19 April 2008 from 8am -8pm for a day of scientific plenary speakers, posters and oral presentations, and more. Join us on Sunday, 20 April 2008 for a scientific field trip through the fascinating changing landscapes of the Greater Wyoming Valley.
Call for Posters and Oral Presentation Papers
Posters and oral presentations on new research findings in ecology, its application in policy and management, and new areas of technology and methodology are welcome. Graduate and undergraduate research presentations are particularly welcomed.
You must be registered by 15 March 2008 to have your paper accepted. You will be informed of acceptance by 25 March 2008.
Please note that space limitations require posters to be no more than 48 inches wide and 48 inches tall.
Oral presentations will be 12 minutes long to allow time for questions. All presentations must be in Powerpoint. No slides or overheads.

8:30 – 14:00 Field trip to the
changing landscapes of the Greater Wyoming Valley
Sunday Field Trip
A Sunday field trip to a variety of natural and human-impacted sites in the Greater Wyoming Valley is scheduled. Stops will include an urban riparian forest with high avian diversity, scrub oak woodlands and sandstone barrens habitats of conservation value, and terrestrial and aquatic areas impacted by past mining (including a mine-reclamation area and constructed wetland for treating abandoned mine drainage). Depending on time, interest, and logistics, the tour may include a visit to a recently constructed windfarm. Vans will leave Wilkes University at 8:30am and return by 2:00pm. The $12 fee for the field trip includes transportation. We will stop for lunch during the field trip. Participants are responsible for purchasing their own lunches.
Registration
Registration deadline is 15 March 2008.
Cost will be $30 for Basic Registration (breakfast, lunch) and $50 for
All-Day Registration (breakfast, lunch, and dinner). A $10 late
fee will be imposed on registrations received after 15 March
2008. Meals cannot be guaranteed for those registering after 4
April.

Registration, talks, and posters will be in the Breiseth Hall (Building 39 on the campus map). Lunch and dinner will be served in the Henry Student Center (Building 27). Parking will be available in the lot adjoining the Student Center (Lot 8).
Lodging
All lodging is off campus. You are
responsible for your own lodging arrangements. Blocks of rooms have
been set-aside at two hotels within 3-4 blocks of the Wilkes campus:
Ramada Inn, 20 Public Square,
Wilkes-Barre. Available both Friday (18 April) and Saturday (19
April). Cost: $60 (plus 11% tax) per night. Make reservation
