		<description><![CDATA[Another form of subtle habitat destruction can involve changes in the statistical properties of stochastic environments. An example related to timing of spring floods is in Smith et al. (2005, Ecological Applications 15:1036).  There are still floods, and sometimes they are early and sometimes they are late --- the habitat doesn&#039;t look all that different (certainly not like an oil spill or deforestation) but it is completely changed for species adapted to the timing of floods.

Timing effects will presumably become an increasingly common effect of climate change.
