The Real/Brown Student Section Travel Grants are given annually to students who need financial help to travel to the ESA conference. For the application, students are required to write a 200-400 word essay (double spaced/2.5 cm margins/Times New Roman font) describing the following:
- The applicant’s academic, research and/or professional background
- How the applicant believes knowledge gained from ecological studies should be envisaged and implemented in a changing world
- The applicant’s past, current, and planned/proposed activities to promote and improve communication, education, diversity and/or policy development in ecology (e.g. teaching, publications, blogs, presentations)
In 2007, six $225 awards were given to international students and eleven $150 awards were given to students students studying in the U.S. The following essays were the winning essays.
