Drexel University; Post Doctoral Fellowship; Ruth Patrick Scholar
Post Doctoral Fellowship: Wetland Ecology and Biogeochemistry
Description: A post-doctoral research fellowship in wetland biogeochemistry is available at Drexel University, Department of Biodiversity, Earth and Environmental Science. This position is a joint position with the Academy of Natural Sciences of Drexel University as a Ruth Patrick Scholar. Research will be with Dr. David Velinsky; Department Head. The successful applicant will explore how ecological processes in freshwater and marine ecosystems influence fluxes of nitrogen, phosphorus and carbon in wetland/estuarine systems within the mid-Atlantic region using laboratory, field, and/or modeling approaches. The post-doctoral researcher will have the opportunity to build on several on-going projects, based on his or her skill sets. Examples of projects are displayed at www.drexel.edu/bees.
We seek a creative individual enthused about moving the science of human-altered ecosystems and organic matter dynamics forward.
Qualifications: Required qualifications include a Ph.D. at the time of appointment or soon thereafter in marine science, ecosystem ecology, earth system science, biogeochemistry or a related field, experience measuring or modeling fluxes of carbon, nitrogen and phosphorus in estuarine environments, knowledge of sediment organic matter dynamics and climate change, record of publication, and excellent mathematical and spoken and written English language skills. Preferred qualifications include collaborative and interdisciplinary research and experience manipulating environments to test ideas of microbial responses to human and climatic factors, to address questions of global and ecosystem change, and experience modeling (e.g., mass balance) ecosystem responses to anthropogenic perturbations; Start date is spring/summer 2014.
Application: Application review starts 5/31/14; applications will be accepted until a qualified applicant is found. Equal Opportunity Employer M/F/D/V
Application includes: Curriculum vitae, statement of professional/research interests, and contact information for three references.
