The Division of Earth and Ecosystem Sciences of the Desert Research Institute in Las Vegas, Nevada is seeking a field biologist/range ecologist to fill a 1.0 FTE position at the Assistant or Associate Scientist level.

An individual is sought with: (1) a practical, working knowledge of the fauna and flora of deserts of the US southwest (Great Basin and Mojave desert preferred), (2) experience conducting environmental impact studies (EIS) and environmental assessments (EA) including data collection, analysis and report writing, (3) experience designing and implementing scientific monitoring and assessment studies, and (4) the ability to conduct such programs of study independently in remote areas.

Applicants must be a U.S. citizen eligible to obtain a high-level DOD/DOE security clearance to comply with U.S. Government contract requirements.

The successful candidate will possess: MS in rangeland science, biology, ecology or a related natural resources field; working knowledge of and/or experience with both fauna and flora in desert ecosystems; demonstrated experience and knowledge of the NEPA process.
