Dean of The Rubenstein School of Environment and Natural Resources – University of Vermont

UVM seeks accomplished, inspiring, collaborative leader to serve as Dean of The Rubenstein School of Environment and Natural Resources (RSENR) – an exceptional opportunity for an academic leader with vision to advance a vital unit within one of the nation’s premier small public research universities.

Vermont’s only comprehensive university and land-grant institution, UVM enrolls 13,000 students, has seven undergraduate schools and colleges, an honors college, graduate college, medical school, and a division of continuing education. The University has distinguished faculty and a strong research enterprise. Located in Burlington, one of America’s best places to live, the campus, located between the Adirondack and Green mountains, overlooks Lake Champlain.

UVM is nationally recognized for its leadership in environmental programs and practices, and RSENR’s Dean will oversee its signature academic unit in this field. With strong undergraduate and graduate programs and research, a LEED platinum certified building, access to unmatched physical and natural environments, and a rich history of interdisciplinary activity, RSENR is a key academic unit in the broad spectrum of environment-related activity across UVM. RSENR enrolls approximately 600 undergraduate and 130 Master’s and Ph.D. students, has 40 full-time faculty, 30 research and administrative staff, and an $11.9M budget.

Candidates will bring academic achievement and management experience, a compelling vision for campus-wide and national leadership in environment, proven leadership in interdisciplinary activity, commitment collaboration, and appetite for efforts to secure external funding. They will share RSENR’s values, perspectives, and vision for a sustainable future, commitment to diversity and inclusion, and ensuring academic opportunities integrating teaching and community engagement through service and other experiential learning. Requires earned doctorate and outstanding record of teaching and scholarship to qualify for full professor.
