Assistant Research Professor of Bioenergy and Environmental Biotechnology

Appointment: position is a 70/30 research extension split. Incumbent will develop a nationally recognized applied research and extension program focusing on bioenergy, with emphasis on anaerobic digestion. Incumbent will have direct supervision and control of the anaerobic digester facilities at the WVSU Research Station, including a 10,000-gallon pilot plant digester and associated equipment, control room, two 1,000-gallon aerobic filtration units, a 1,000-gallon anaerobic digester, a 500-gallon plug flow type digester, and a feedstock storage facility. In addition, the incumbent will provide technical expertise to and work collaboratively with Extension Service personnel to develop and implement an integrated program on bioenergy relevant to local needs.
Requirements: Candidate must have a PhD from a regionally accredited college or university in the areas of environmental engineering, biotechnology, agricultural engineering or related area, with demonstrated experience in applied research, grant writing and management, publication in professional journals, undergraduate and graduate teaching and advising. Candidate should also have fiscal management and research development experience, the ability and willingness to work collaboratively, a desire to build administrative and interdisciplinary relationships, a record of writing and securing research and outreach grants, as well as demonstrated ability to supervise undergraduate and graduate student research.
