Assistant Professor of Plant Biology
The Department of Plant Biology at Southern Illinois University Carbondale seeks to hire a tenure-track Assistant Professor to begin August 16, 2014. Research must encompass aspects of conservation and/or biodiversity, with a focus on plant or fungi in natural systems. The research emphasis should embrace an organismal approach and the use of modern systematic tools such as molecular approaches or computational methods. Applicants must hold an earned doctorate in Plant Biology or a related field and have research accomplishments that include peer-reviewed publications. Preference will be given to applicants with postdoctoral
experience and external funding records. The successful candidate is expected to develop an externally funded research program, teach undergraduate courses, and develop graduate courses in the candidate’s field of expertise. Position is a 9-month appointment. Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
