ASSISTANT / ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR OF MARINE SCIENCE

The Richard Stockton College of New Jersey is seeking to fill a tenure track position, at the rank of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor level, in the area of Marine Science with a specialization in Marine Botany (i.e. phytoplankton, macroalgae, seagrasses, saltmarsh) and an interest in Coastal Marine Ecology for September 2014. Experience with Marine Technology a plus. The candidate should be qualified to teach Marine Botany and Ecology.
The Richard Stockton College of New Jersey is an innovative liberal arts and sciences college and is currently ranked among the top ten public Masters institutions in the northeast. The college is located in the Pinelands National Reserve in southern New Jersey on 1600 acres about one hour from Philadelphia, two hours from New York City, three hours from the Baltimore/Washington area, and 20 minutes from Atlantic City. The College has a diverse array of undergraduate programs in the sciences and maintains a well-equipped coastal field station ten minutes from campus and anticipates the opening of a new 66,000 sq. ft. Unified Science Center in September, 2013. Stockton provides vast opportunities for interdisciplinary academic, scholarly, and pedagogic development in the sciences and mathematics.
PhD is required for appointment as Assistant or Associate Professor. Excellent teaching and scholarship is expected. Postdoctoral experience in Marine Botany is a plus; research interests might include, but are not limited to: ecology, taxonomy, ecological modeling, genetics, and environmental physiology. Teaching load is 12 hours each semester and could consist of lecture and lab sections as well as course offerings in the College’s General Studies “commons”. Academic experiences with culturally diverse populations desired.
Salary and rank are dependent on qualifications and experience.
