Long Range Planning Grants

Memorandum

DATE:       In the Fall Each Year
TO:           Section, Chapter and Committee Chairs
FROM:      Katherine S. McCarter, Executive Director
SUBJECT: Long Range Planning Grants

The ESA Budget contains funds for the purpose of awarding grants to Sections, Chapters and Committees for activities related to the ESA Long Range Plan. The Governing Board hopes that this money will facilitate your group in planning or implementing strategies related to the goals and objectives in the ESA plan (attached).  Grants are available in amounts up to $2,500 and may be used for activities that pertain to strategic developments of your section, chapter or committee.  These activities may include conference calls, materials development, travel, etc.  What is not generally supported are requests for lunches, socials, or activities that are not related to developing your group’s strategies to achieve ESA’s Long Range Plan. Please see the attached guidelines for proposals that have been developed by the Governing Board.

If your group is interested in applying for these long range planning funds, please contact ESA HQ, if you have not already recieved this memorandum. A Sub-committee of the Governing Board will review the applications and make the final decisions about grants.  Notification will occur in December and the funding will become available immediately thereafter.

We encourage you to consider applying for these planning grants. The efforts of your Section, Chapter or Committee directed towards the Long Range Plan are important to our success. Please do not hesitate to call me at (202) 833-8773 if you have any questions or if you would like to discuss this opportunity further.
