The Howard L. McKee Ecology Residency at the Sitka Center for Art and Ecology:
Howard L. McKee was an environmentalist, architect, urban planner, and a visionary. Through the generosity of his family the Sitka Center is able to host scientists and researchers whose work is based in environmental or ecological concerns as part of the Howard L. McKee Ecology Residency. Selected applicants will be provided with working and living space free of charge on the Sitka campus for 3.5 months between October 2017 and May 2018. During this residency, Sitka imposes few restrictions on residents and instead hopes to provide uninterrupted time for creative and scientific inquiry. Past residents in the sciences have used the opportunity in a variety of ways. This can include conducting research in the surrounding natural areas including the Cascade Head Scenic Research Area and/or the completion writing based on their research.
