I'd be happy to answer any questions or provide additional information. Also, please note the article contains a numerical error. In the appendix is a formula for the amount of carbon in each liter of gasoline. The correct value is 591 g C/L of gasoline. (The value originally printed was 49.3 g C/L.)

Sample data from previous experiments and more details on how to set up a laboratory exercise would have been helpful for instructors to design an outdoor lab for intro level students.
