This press release described the findings of a study of the impacts of human activities on a lake in western Minnesota. The study will be published as part of a 200-year Perspective on Alternative Stable State Theory and Lake Management from a Biomanipulated Shallow Lake in ESA's July edition of Ecological Applications.

Due to human impact, the water in Lake Christina is now deeper and murky with abundant algae. These changes have resulted in the loss of habitat for migratory waterfowl including the canvasback ducks.
