NCEP Exercise- Why is Biodiversity Important: Using the IUCN Red List to Assess Importance

This exercise has students use the IUCN species “Red List” to become familiar with the current status of particular species around the world and to explore the likely consequences to humanity and the biota if the extinction of these species occurs. Additional teaching materials on topics relating to biodiversity conservation and ecology can be obtained free of charge by registering at the Network for Conservation Educators and Practitioners’ website (http://ncep.amnh.org).
