NCEP Exercise- Introduction to Remote Sensing: Viewing satellite imagery with image processing software

This exercise acts as a self-guided tutorial that demonstrates how satellite imagery can be visualized using an open source remote sensing image processing software application called OpenEV. With this software it is possible to read a broad range of satellite imagery in a variety of file formats. Once the image files are input into the software, functions exist to allow the user to enhance the image and overlay other geographic data. Additional teaching materials on topics relating to biodiversity conservation and ecology can be obtained free of charge by registering at the Network for Conservation Educators and Practitioners’ website (http://ncep.amnh.org).
