Assistant/Associate Professor of Veterinary Infectious Disease Epidemiology
SALARY
Dependent on qualifications and experience.
QUALIFICATIONS
PhD in epidemiology or closely related discipline, and DVM or equivalent, are required. Demonstrated experience, independent productivity, and creativity in research in the epidemiology of infectious disease are required, and highly desirable areas of experience include livestock health, disease surveillance, molecular epidemiology, diagnostic test evaluation, modeling of animal infectious diseases, trans-disciplinary research, international research, work at the interface of animal, human and environmental health, information technology, or quantitative methods. Demonstrated record of effective teaching is required. Must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills and a demonstrated ability to work with others in a collegial team atmosphere.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Teaching: Responsibilities include: 1) teaching in the graduate professional and/or graduate academic course(s) in some of the following: epidemiology, epidemiologic study design, infectious disease epidemiology, molecular epidemiology, surveillance, diagnostic test evaluation, and modeling of animal diseases and their risks, and 2) mentoring and directing graduate students.
Research: The development of a creative, independent, and productive basic and/or applied research program in infectious disease epidemiology is a fundamental and indispensable requirement of the position, including publication of results in scientific journals.
Service: University and public service through committee work, participation in professional organizations, continuing education and other appropriate means is required.
